Are You Able To Recognize Your Talent?
What are you good at? What is your talent and can you recognize it? Are you able to make money at what your gift is? Can you stand in front of an audience and speak your speal? Sing, dance, talk... create, paint, write ... sell? Is there anything in your family that you have inherited, gift wise that you can share with the world?
I went to a concert venue last night in our Delmar Loop area at the Pagent. A nice venue with some wonderful acoustics and listened to some "screaming" guitars. A Stevie Ray Vaugh Tribute. Although my guy enjoyed it a bit more immensely then I did... I made the best out of watching the actions of the musicians and the crowds in their full mode. For a brief moment, I thought of Aliens passing over and looking down at a bunch of people moving their heads in the same funk motion bopping to this type of noise and wondered if they would be in a state of "WHAT IS THIS THING" that these humans are doing? (yes this is how my mind works) I watched a crowd on the dance floor in this transcendental trance in some rhythmic motion.
I then watched the musicians as they played in this lost gesture a feeling in tune with what their hands/fingers were attached to ... to make this SOUND. Now do not get me wrong, I love music. I come from a family of talented musicians and singers. .. but the writer in me ... the wannabe journalist I portray looked beyond what I was watching and wanted to know... HOW DID THEY LEARN TO DO THAT? Did they inherit that love for that gift that is obviously an entertaining talent?
Better yet I watched their faces and body actions living out loud their passion! A passion you could see in real-time displayed for their audience. You can not fake that kind of passion. It is in their blood heart and soul! Are you living that kind of life? Are you living that type of passionate life in front of people so they are able to truly see what you are made of?
As a business coach and an entrepreneur myself, I often question how big I want to go. My factual statement is I do not need a million dollars. I do though need to live my life working with my passions to sustain a good living. How big do you want to go? Do you think about where your plan is right now and where is it going to take you? Are you wanting to go big or just play life safe never allowing anyone to know what you are capable of?
As I watched last night and listened to a few songs last night, I amusingly thought, I could get up there and sing like that.(My voice has some bluesy something to it.) I do not have a fear of being in front of a crowd. Yes, I have sung... on stage with a band. The nerve-racking part is memorizing lyrics. Now do I want to do that for a living? Not anymore. Not at this age. And besides, that is not how my path walked. {My sister on the other hand... oh so different} My point is and I am asking, what is keeping you down holding you back from living your true passions? What are you afraid of? and Why are you so gosh darn afraid?
Critics there is a world of critics that we associate with that we listen to their BS and digest what they think ... we hold tight the opinions of others that claim to love us... care for us... LOOK OUT FOR OUR BEST INTEREST! The opinions of what others think or worse what they say... should not matter when it comes to living out your dream. the harsh reality not everyone is going to get what you want to do. Not everyone is going to share your enthusiasm for that passion you want to speak, sing, dance create write paint etc...
When I was trying to put my life in some executive order, I was planning my life in some artist type fashion the life I was wanting to live. Now, this was not by osmosis but by HUGE trial and error!!! The guy I was with at the time, someone who claimed to love me...someone that I had been with, in a long term relationship...in one of his stupid temper tantrums because he could not get his way or the attention he demanded said, " I HOPE YOU FAIL! WHY CAN'T YOU BE LIKE EVERYONE ELSE? NO ONE LIKES YOU! YOU THINK YOU ARE SO MUCH BETTER!" Trust me, at that time, so taken back by the cruelty of those words but now totally understanding why he lashed out... HE COULD NOT CONTROL MY DESIRES TO BECOME MORE! He could not stand the fact that I could become more successful than he and attention would be diverted from him to me. My desire to build something took away from his simple way of existing and that would take away his power to control my life. ( Mind you I had to study psychology narcissistic behavior and life coaching to fully understand the full impact of that dynamic) His father who controlled every move his mother made keeping him and her isolated never developing a life outside of the house they lived. So his behavior modeled after his father. ABUSIVE CONTROL.
Is someone controlling your life? Is someone lashing out God awful things so you stay "in a place"? Fear of judgment and fear of what other people say is detrimental to one's physic-ee! Do you get that? Am I making myself clear yet?
I watched those men on stage last night and although I am positive some huge egos are attached to that great talent, I am positive at one point in their life some pretty harsh criticism came their way and someone wanted to dim a light to cast shadows on a dream that they had planned for their life! And from the size of the crowd I witnessed, it is more than apparent they did not listen to anyone's banter!
In my business coaching class, we talk about your passions. your desires, your dreams, your gifts and talents! We talk about your critics, your biggest fans... We talk about what you inherited and who you are more like in your family. We talk about what you wanted to do as a kid! What did you want to be when you grew up and how close are you to that vision?
We also talk about your ability to market yourself. We talk about blogging and branding your business idea. The idea that separates you from all the others! We talk about crushing your dreams and keeping silent to the naysayers that want to see you fail! We talk style and image and trend and how you are very ENTITLED TO CREATING THE LIFE YOU SO DESIRE!
If you are interested in my BUSINESS COACHING CLASS send me an email at kitrynmarie@gmail.com visit https://kitryn-marie.weebly.com or visit https://kmgraphicapparelandart.weebly.com to learn about all the classes I offer. I am available for speaking engagements too!
I am no longer afraid of too much! ( ok maybe some sketchy neighborhoods, bridges, ski lifts and the likes of...) but nothing at this point is going to hold me back. I come alive with great passion when doing my thing!!!! My desired life is being lived out loud in real-time! For whomever to see! The haters are gonna hate...and I don't care bout someone who has done nothing with their life other than to criticize mine! (and talk a bunch of lies)
And for the record, my grandfather was not only a shoe cobbler by day but an accomplished musician, base guitar player at night! My mother (in her early days) was the front receptionist for our NBC affiliate, a page at our veiled prophet event and a semi-professional singer up until she died. My sister sang with Legacy a top local St. Louis band that played for over a decade in the 80's. My dad a truck driver by day and a multi talented muscian that played by ear more instruments that I can mention. His dad a Pacific railroad worker by day and a guitar player by night! So please do not tell me... dreams and passions do not run in my blood heart and soul!
Your dream starts with you! You too can stand out on any stage once you let go of the fear and the reasons not to live your desired life!
