Oh The Weather Outside Is Frightful
It’s beginning to be that time of year, where the mornings
are colder, the days are shorter and our soul’s need to be better cared for, as
our bodies shiver with falling temperatures our desires for comfort reverently
heat up.
What is it about these colder months? Winter makes us appreciate
the word cocoon. We long to be tangled in someone’s arms safe and sound; it is warmth
like no other. I miss those mornings of
pillow talk hesitant to get out of bed, legs entwined, eyes still closed, a
little small talk or other action that is needed to get you up to face the brisk
day ahead. Now that’s a heat we all can appreciate…LOL
The winter makes you long for lazy cloudy days where lounging on a couch is the only activity you want to tackle, with remote in one hand and the other… well tucked somewhere on that someone that is laying there with you even if it means he is watching football and you are seriously napping. While a pot of something is intently cooking on the stove or something decadent is baking in the oven. Food just tastes better when it’s cold!
Chicken and dumplings, beef stew, chili and whatever else
teases the taste buds. Aromatic waifs drift through the air. Sitting at the table or in front of your TV you
can hardly wait to dive in. All that you know is with that first bite from that
sizzling delectable meal it was well worth the wait and your tummy thanks you
for it… nourished, satisfied and fever ably fulfilled.
If you have to go outside you cringe. You dread bundling up and
if you are working amongst the element you curse Mother Nature for her cruel precipitation
gestures. You question the god’s, and ask “what in the world did I do to
deserve this?” You long for the day to be over so you can retreat to a higher
temp atmosphere, seek solace and find a protected source of heat.
Your shoes, your boots and socks never seem to serve the
correct purpose for your toes when it’s cold either. We all know once your feet
are cold it’s all over. There is that point of no return when your feet have
turned frigid. At this stage too, your ears have gone numb and wearing one of
those ridiculous looking hats have become so obsolete to your fashion sense of
pride… you will put anything on your head if it means you can feel your ears
again! I could go on and on about other body parts as well but you get my drift
where I am going with all this “cold” nonsense. It is just that nonsense!
The icy winter months make you long for warm and fuzzy anything…
to be in someone’s arms, to be fed a hot meal, to be served a warm drink, it is
a time to retreat, reheat and safely be
cocooned for the duration of the season.
Sweltering, searing, blistering, boiling, scorching… which
ever word you choose for the upcoming frost:
Hopefully you will be with that special someone that wants
to keep your belly warm and full and burn with desire for your passionate winter
hibernating self! I wish you warmth…
